Book Series Saturday - My Commitment Issues

Posted April 4, 2020 by stuckint in Book Series Saturday / 2 Comments

Book Series Saturday is inspired by the monthly Series on Saturday meme hosted by Books of My Heart. Rather than focusing on the best series in a genre, here on Stuck in the Stacks Book Series Saturday will highlight book series that fit a particular theme of our choosing a few times a month. If there is a theme you would like us to highlight please comment below or send us an email at: stuckinthestacks123 (at) gmail (dot) com.

Today, we’re talking about the series we want to finish before the end of the year ahichwe’ve started. All the books are out, and for whatever reason we just haven’t gathered the motivation to read that last book (or two- let’s be honest. We would love to hear which series you still have haunting your TBR piles. We know we aren’t the only book dragons who get distracted by those new shiny releases!

Haley’s List

Bad Girls Don’t Die by Katie Alender

My Excuse: To be fair, I didn’t discover this series until last October and I really enjoyed it! I was reminded of the Annabelle doll from The Conjuring universe and there were some genuinely creepy moments. As with most of the series on this list I think I’m just afraid that the rest of the books will be a let down.

Stalking Jack the Ripper Series by Kerri Maniscalco

My Excuse: I feel like I’m the only person in the YA community who isn’t obsessed with this series. I liked it well enough but there has been some thing kind of fake feeling for me with the banter between Thomas and Aubrey Roae. I know for a lot readers, their relationship is one of the selling points of the series but I just always find myself so bored and a good half of the books are always dedicated to them. Plus, it always takes forever for any thing to actually start happening and they are books about murder! Anyway, I have strong opinions about this series but I still hope to finish this series in 2020.

The Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini

My Excuse: Okay, honestly, I haven’t read the final two books in the quartet because my husband spoiled the end of the final book for me and so my motivation to actually read them has all but evaporated. I love dragons stories and I adored the first two book though so I hope to finally get over my bitterness as the series being spoiled and read them.

Dark Tower Series by Stephen King

My Excuse: I think what has keep me from this series is the sheer size of the books and the number in the series. I am die hard Stephen King fan, but I still haven’t read this series because there are so many of them and they are so long. 2020 is the year though. At least, that’s what I tell myself.

The Merciless by Danielle Vega

My Excuse: I have no excuse for not finishing this series except that I do not own the other books and the audio has been a little hard to track down. It’s pretty easy to find these used though so really my excuse isn’t that great. I enjoyed how dark the first one was and I have high hopes that the other three will be just as good.

What About You?

What series are you planning on finishing (finally! Hey no judgment here!) this year Do you think I should bump any of these to the top of my TBR? Let me know in the comments!

  1. I never finished Inheritance Cycle or Dark Tower either! I enjoyed the first two Inheritance books, but Brisingr was painful for me. It took me three months to finish and was so boring it was agony to get through. I don’t think I’ll ever bother with the fourth book >.<
Dark Tower started strong, but I got halfway through Wastelands and hit a really boring part and just…never finished. Oops.
