Sunday Salon- Haley’s Monthly Wrap Up January 2020

Posted February 2, 2020 by stuckint in Monthly Wrapup, Stocking the Stacks, Sunday Post, Sunday Salon / 5 Comments

For our post today, we decided to combine my monthly wrap up with the other memes we do on Sundays. As you’ll remember Sunday Post is hosted by Caffeinated Reviewer, Sunday Salon is hosted by Readerbuzz and Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Tynga’s Reviews.

January is finally over! Like most of the world, January felt like one long year. Despite its length, or maybe because of it, I read a total of 20 books. It was definitely a fantastic way to kick off 2020.

My Favorite Reads

I had a fantastic reading month and all of my favorite reads have strong voices and thought provoking premises. I know a handful of these are extremely divisive for reviewers. Especially Damsel and When We Were Lost which readers disliked for how disturbing and superficial and they were respectively. But they worked for me!

Books That Weren’t My Cup Of Tea

Okay, I have a lot of feelings about the books I didn’t enjoy this month. All of them were disappointing for the same reason: their synopsis we’re completely misleading. Each one promised certain plot points or key elements and all of them fell short in some form. I still bitter over Scavenge The Stars specifically but it’s only January. I’m sure I’ll get over it… eventually.

  1. 20 books is awesome! And I’m glad January is over too. It was a long month!

Bummer about Light at the Bottom of the World but I’ve heard mixed things about that one. Your new books all look good though.

Love the look of When We were Lost.

  2. I only read The God Game from your good reads list - I’ll have to remember the rest when I catch up on my list. Several of your less-liked have cool titles and covers. Sorry they weren’t as promised. Have a great week!
