Monday Matinee- Bingeable Book Series

Posted June 23, 2020 by stuckint in Features, Monday Matinee / 2 Comments

This post is a little different from what we normally do. Typically, we pick a show or movie and recommend books based on that week’s selection. Well today, with summer reading in full swing, we wanted to recommend book series you can devour aftering binging your favorite Netflix show.

Completed Series

Shades of Magic by VE Schwab

This adult fantasy trilogy features Kell, a smuggler who can travel between different Londons identified by color. When he finds himself in some trouble on one of his trips, he’s saved by an ambitious thief named Delilah Bard. Dangerous magic is now loose, and Kell and Delilah must work together to save all of the Londons — but they’ll need to survive first.

Gone Series by Michael Grant

This pulse pounding series opens with the disappearance of everyone over the age of 15 suddenly disappearing from a southern California town. Our protagonist is Sam Elliot and the series follows him and a band of misfits friends try to make sense of this new, chaotic world. If you like the first one there are five more books in the series to enjoy.

Wayward Pines Trilogy by Blake Crouch

It seems fitting that this trilogy would make the list considering the fact that Hulu adapted it into a series and it was quite enjoyable. My point of entry for Blake Crouch was Recursion but this series is just as mind blowing and thrilling as Crouch’s standalone novels. Think a bucolic rural town with lots of charm and even more secrets. It’s weird, strange and completely immersive for summer reading.

Daevabad Trilogy by S.A. Chakraborty

This middle eastern inspired fantasy follows Nahri, a con artist who scrapes out a living on the streets of Cairo. Then, when she accidentally summons a djinn warrior Nahri is forced to flee across the uninhabitable desert. There is something that seems so fun to me, binging a series set in the desert in the summer. It seems fitting. This one is definitely at the top of my summer TBR.

Truly Devious Series by Maureen Johnson

Considerjng the fact that a fourth book in the Truly Devious universe was just announced it seems the perfect time to recommend this YA mystery series that gets a lot of love from the bookish community. The series follows an amateur sleuth at a boarding school who is determined to solve one of the school’s oldest cold cases.
